Take out wedding insurance where it’s available.
In countries where it is available there are several packages to choose from and I think this is a truly fabulous idea, just in case, and ESPECIALLY if you are spending a lot of money on the big day!

March 8th, 2006 — ideas, theme ideas
These will not be in any particular order. . . just as I have listed them over time and as they come to me! And they could be ideas for anything from jewellery to the reception!
First up- I want to find an old fashioned typewriter to have on a table at the reception venue. Then people can type messages or letters as keepsakes for me on paper colour coded to whatever my wedding theme is.
March 7th, 2006 — about me
I have always loved weddings. I’ve been designing wedding gowns since I was in primary school, in fact- I think my first design “emerged” when I was about 11 years old, on a blackboard in a school classroom. This was of course back when I still thought I might design my own gown one day.
But now I’m a grown up and I’ve come to my senses… teehee.
I am still fascinated by weddings though. The fact that there is so much you can do with your special day to make it unique and unforgettable and completely yours. I hope one day to make a career of this- simply because I KNOW I would be good at it. I have a knack for finding the “perfect dress” even for people I don’t know really well. I also have ideas when I talk to people about things they would like for their big day even if I’m not helping them plan everything. I have lavish ideas and ideas for saving money- all to make things the way you want them.
Something I’ve also noticed is that it often helps to have a “neutral” person to bounce ideas off of. Mommy dearest and the bride’s sisters can be very, um, pushy when it comes to ideas for your wedding, and I think a lot of brides end up doing too much to please Mommy and dear old Aunty Mavis when they make their arrangements- ESPECIALLY when Mommy or dear old Aunty Mavis is footing the bill! A wedding planner can be ideal for playing referee so as to keep the peace… a wedding planner can also take a huge load of care off shoulders of the bride and groom-to-be by taking care of things like finances and arrangements and quotes and interviews. And most planners have different packages on offer, ranging from handling everything for months in advance, to just helping with a few arrangements.
If I ever get married, this is what I will insist on. I want my friends and family to arrive, enjoy them selves, and then be able to leave without worrying about the clean-up; the hired cutlery; the mess in the reception venue; or the left over food or booze.
So, I would love to give input or suggestions on your plans, and I will be posting ideas as they come to me, as well as plans I have made for myself for that incredibly exciting “one day” of my own- things I’ve seen in magazines (and I have a lot of them) as well as ideas that have come to me at all times of the day and night.
If you find ideas here that you like or use, let me know!
