Honestly. . . Whenever I look at any of my bridal magazines, or see something on TV, or even just think about what I’d like to do for myself one day- I have never seen myself with a traditional bridal bouquet. I have always seen myself with a clutch or draw-string bag completely covered in silk flowers instead. I absolutely love silk flowers (and feathers, and beads, and sequins, and fake fur… but that’s another post altogether!) And a bonus is that a handbag can hold things like lipsticks and extra hair clips as well as a hanky or tissues. . . and it could even be something to keep and use forever!

Wedding Photography…
April 24th, 2006 — budgeting, ideas, photography
If you really want to splash out- buy some disposable wedding cameras for the guests… If you are having decorated tables- perhaps but one camera on each table. The guests can then photograph themselves at the table. This often makes for some fun candid pictures!
What you could do is perhaps buy one disposable (with a flash) to experiment with before hand. The cardboard cover on the camera can be removed- if you’re very careful- so maybe you can redesign the paper covers with wrapping papers or coloured paper to fit your weding theme or colours. This is very definitely possible- the cardboard cover can’t damage the camera itself, provided you’re careful.
In the UK, and perhaps in the USA the pre-covered, themed disposable cameras are available- but not in South Africa yet as far as I know.
Just remember- once the festivities are over- you will be paying for the developing and printing of the pictures on these cameras. The cameras themselves may not seem expensive- but getting the pictures developed can prove pricey.
I Love This Cake!

I am of course a fan of things a little “off centre” though… but I think this particular one is stunning. I also think it can be made in different colours with the gold, picture it in a beautiful royal blue instead of the red!
A Flower Idea
April 14th, 2006 — flowers, ideas
Instead of tossing your wedding bouquet- why not throw several small bunches of flowers, or single flowers, each one with a little “fortune” tied to it… or try using the Finnish tradition- where the blindfolded bride is in the centre of a circle made up by the unmarried women. She then turns in a circle, all the girls forming the outer circle turn the other way- when the music stops the person directly in front of the bride gets the flowers.
