…really need a wedding coordinator?
Of course not! Brides-to-be and their families have been planning their own weddings forever- and doing a perfectly good job of it too!
So let me try and tell you what a wedding planner’s job entails.
Anyone who has planned a wedding, be it someone else’s wedding or their own, will know what I am talking about when I say it is an immense and daunting task!
There is just SO much to do, so many phone calls to make, so much double checking and long, looong lists!
Setting the budget, setting a date, the ANC, the rings, organising the photographer, the caterer, choosing and then visiting the shortlisted venues, the flowers, the videographer, the drinks, the church, the wedding cars, asking your bridesmaids and arranging their outfits, the wedding gown, shoes, the groom’s clothes, and the parents of the bridal couple also need outfits! Not to mention the honeymoon, bridal shower, stag party, invitations, RSVPs, maps… the list gets longer as you get into it!
And then most people still have to work full time whilst trying to do all this!
A wedding planner can handle as much or as little of this as you need them to!
She can make all those phone calls for you- following up on confirmation of the venue, caterer, arranging for wedding dress fittings- even finding a dressmaker for you if you need that.
Then there are the little things, like making sure the hairdresser and makeup lady arrive on time. Ensuring you don’t forget your garter.
Even returning your gown to the place you hired it from if need be.
And your planner can make all these phone calls and arrangements while you carry on with your day to day life. Meeting with you regularly to reassure you that everything is running smoothly and going the way you want it to.
I must just stress- a wedding coordinator will plan and organise your wedding the way you want it to be done.
Your choice of colours, your choice of flowers.
She’s not there to tell you how to do things or to try and compel you to go with her suggestions or to interfere.
Make no mistake, there are a LOT of wedding planners our there- and each one does things differently. Meet with as many as you would like before choosing one. Make sure you have a rapport with your planner as her helping you is very much dependant on understanding your vision for your big day.
Good luck to you!
You will be a beautiful bride.
