March 17th, 2010 — bridesmaids, bridezilla, our wedding, planning, red and purple, suppliers, the dress
Last Saturday, I took my two sisters to do some bridesmaid dress hunting at Bride & Co!
It was with great excitement that Candy, Brigitte and my mommy darling met me at my house at 8am, where we had a cup of coffee and a chat before setting off for Sunninghill.
Candy and Brigitte are my bridesmaids, and I told them they could choose any dresses they liked (within the budget of course) provided I liked the dress too.

Candy knew exactly what she wanted, and when she found it she tried it on- looked absolutely fantastic- and that was the end of her search. Brilliant!
Brigitte also had something in mind, but when she found it they didn’t have one in her size for her to try on.
She was rather upset because clothes’s shopping is always a bitch… but with a little coaxing from me and Eva who was helping us, she tried on something she would never have thought of. Lemme tell you, when she stepped out of the dressing room, I got goose bumps!! She looked gawjiss!
I also looked for a gown for my BBF Gen, who is my matron-if-honour… but it seems she won’t be able to make it here in July from Australia.
And I tried on a gown, just out of curiosity and for the fun of it, but nothing she brought was even close to fitting properly! They just don’t make gowns to fit boobs like mine because the rest of me is out of proportion! It’s the same with bra manufacturers who assume that if you wear an E cup, your shoulders must then be 2M wide!!

We had a fabulous morning there. I was merrily advising other brides in the shop, playing silly buggers with gloves, veils, tiaras and fascinators, and giggling with my sisters!
I have ordered my sister’s dresses already, and we’re all eagerly awaiting their arrival. Candy is taking hers as is, and Brigitte will be making some small adjustments when it arrives.
I highly recommend Bride & Co for wedding gowns and to dress your entourage, BTW. They cater for the whole wedding party including shoes! Its best to make an appointment, but their fittings are free!!
January 28th, 2010 — bridezilla, mistakes, planning nightmares
Clearly this is a thing with brides-to-be, though I don’t remember anyone ever mentioning it! I have since found a few links to brides talking about their bad dreams, but it never occurred to me!
The dream started where I was woken by my mommy darling and told it was time to go and get ready and I was excited but nervous!
Then we were at a church and I had a beautifully decorated suite with a lovely bathroom and everything to get ready in… but my dress was wrong and I had no shoes! I was complaining to my mom that my dress was wrong and this wasn’t what I wanted and couldn’t we fix it but I had to get ready and I had to get finished! I remember walking round and round the suite like I was looking for something…
Then I was in the church and it was a massive cathedral-like place with many levels and staircases and I couldn’t see any other people. Then somehow I realised I was not the only one getting married- I was just one bride in something like a mass wedding!!! I had to wait for my name to be called, and when my Glugster joined me in the aisle to walk to the front he was smiling at me… but we didn’t speak, and the next thing I was walking barefoot across dry grass and sand to a car.
And then we were in a mass reception in what looked like a huge restaurant slash strip mall (kinda like Design Quarter) with separate rooms for each wedding party. And all the rooms were full to bursting and loud and colourful, and we were the last to arrive in our little room and there was almost no one there!! There was my mom and dad, and my sisters, and my brother and Damien and a few other people… but I flipped because we hadn’t sent out the invitations and now there was no one to celebrate with us!! It was dreadful and I was very sad and angry.
Once again, like the previous dream, everything has chock-a-block with a sense of being unprepared!
November 16th, 2009 — bridezilla, our wedding, planning nightmares
Literally!
I am determined not to be a BrideZilla… but I think my concerns are going to manifest themselves in my dreams! I very seldom remember my dreams at all, but this one was entertaining to say the least.
In my dream, it was mine and my Glugs’ wedding day! It was as if I had jumped forward from now to our wedding day and skipped everything in between- including the planning and organising.
We were supposedly at the venue we had booked and paid for- but it didn’t look like our venue at all!
There were people in the reception “hall”- that looked like a big draped tent, which I so don’t want- but they weren’t the people on our guest-list and there were only about 30 people that I could see! And I vaguely remember my Glugster telling me these were the only people who had turned up!!!
My sisters, who are my bridesmaids, were dressed in the strangest outfits and I couldn’t understand why I hadn’t bought them pretty dresses for the day, and when I asked sister B at some point she just walked away from me. And for some reason we were walking around outside some building in the dust- like we were looking for the door or something.
I don’t remember there being a ceremony at all but that may just be something I forgot by the time I woke up…
It started getting dark in my dream, which seemed to indicate the end of the wedding, and my sweetheart and I were searching for the place we were supposed to sleep! There was sand everywhere, like a farmyard- complete with ducks and chickens, and the two of us were shown that we had to sleep on the floor! We were at least indoors- but it was dreadful!
I was wearing a white dress in my dream too, something without sleeves- but I couldn’t see what it looked like.
One thing I did sense all the time in my dream- was my my Glugster at my side. Most of the time I could sense him holding my hand- even though he seemed to be only in my peripheral vision the entire time. That part I liked a lot.
Very strange!!
